Reconstructing Renzo

Centre Culturel Tjibaou, Renzo Piano

Precedent Study, University of Minnesota, 2013

Contributer: Nick Lanassa

This project was a precedent study focused on increasing knowledge of building construction and material use. My project partner, Nick Lanassa, and I chose to study a portion of the Centre Culturel Tjibaou, a cultural center in New Caledonia, designed by Renzo Piano and his firm, RPBW.

The purpose of this project was to recreate drawings of the building in order to explain its construction and concept. In addition, we used the knowledge gained from this exercise to reconstruct a detailed section of the building in model form.
